Nechirvan Barzani: The development of any part of Iraq is the development of the entire country

Yesterday, Tuesday, the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, pointed out a problem that he described as fundamental between Baghdad and the region, which is the failure to implement the constitutional federal system in Iraq.
Barzani said during his participation in the “Miri” forum held in Erbil, “In my opinion, there is a fundamental problem in the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad, as according to the constitution, Iraq is a federal state, but in content there is centralization, and federalism has not taken its course, and if this problem is not solved, the rest of the problems will not be solved.” . If we want political and economic stability in Iraq, we must discuss this issue in all transparency and without complacency.”
He added that during the past months of forming the state administration coalition, there has been progress, and there are other problems, but we have a road map for these solutions.
He continued in another detail, “As a principle, Iraq should not become a threat to any country, nor should opposition forces be trained to go to countries, carry out missions, and return. Baghdad concluded an agreement with Iran, and the Kurdistan region is committed to this agreement, and we reaffirm that the region is not a threat to Iran, which is a neighboring country, and we have passed good stages, and Iran is to some extent satisfied with these steps.”
He said, “Now it is time for us to sit together with Baghdad and determine a definition of the federal system, and if it is necessary to change an article in the constitution, let us agree and find out where the defect lies.” We consider ourselves Iraqi citizens, and the development of any part of Iraq is a development for all of Iraq, whether in Anbar or Basra, and the same should be true for the Kurdistan region.”
Regarding the energy file, Nechirvan Barzani said: “There are two problems facing the export of oil. The first is the companies’ money and how this money is paid, and the form of our agreement with the companies is a partnership and not a service. The second problem is that SOMO must conclude agreements with these companies. In general, the problem is in Baghdad is not in Turkey,” referring to the issue of stopping oil exports to the Turkish port of Ceyhan.
The President of the Kurdistan Region also expressed his concern about the Israeli siege imposed on Gaza, pointing out that “the problem of Palestine and Israel will not be solved through war.”
Barzani added; “The Palestinians have the right to have a state and live in peace,” adding: “We are all concerned about the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, and this is causing a humanitarian catastrophe, and we hope that this problem will be solved.
