The Parliamentary Services and Reconstruction Committee is studying the Roads and Bridges Law, while hosting the relevant ministries and governors to discuss the provisions of the law, calling on the government to legalize the import of cars, determine their percentage, measure it according to the size of the population density, and develop alternative roads to reduce traffic and traffic congestion.
Committee member Sarwa Muhammad Rashid said: “The committee is still studying the Roads and Bridges Law and continues to communicate with the Ministry of Housing, Public Traffic and other relevant ministries.”
Abdel Wahed added in an interview with “Al-Sabah” that “there are problems on the external roads between the governorates and the bridges between the governorates, especially Baghdad Governorate, which suffers from significant traffic congestion. Therefore, we are working to legislate the law as quickly as possible, in addition to the committee’s oversight of the relevant ministries and departments through hosting and reviewing.” On the opinions of governors and stakeholders in the governorates, districts and districts.
The representative explained that “working with bridges is one of the important solutions to eliminate traffic congestion,” noting that “the number of cars in the 1990s was less than at present, so we need solutions including bridges, reducing the import rate, developing new roads, and removing encroachments on the main roads.”
The representative called on the government to "activate public transportation and create roads for it through plans drawn up by the relevant ministries, in addition to keeping pace with global development in roads and bridges, including sky trains, while modernizing old roads, stopping old cars from old models within the General Traffic Law, and determining the quantity and size of cars relative to the size of the population." .
She pointed out that “the Roads and Bridges Law is one of the important laws currently, and we will need more time to see proposals from the relevant ministries and departments.”
