    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Wednesday (October 18, 2023), the Security and Defense Committee in the House of Representatives identified the identity of those behind the philosophy of corruption in Iraq’s security institutions, while indicating the presence of changes in the security institution after the war with ISIS.
Committee member Waad al-Qaddu said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that, “The American occupation of Iraq in 2003 brought the philosophy of democratic change and it turned out to be a lie to the Iraqis. In return, it adopted the philosophy of corruption and fragmentation of society and spread it in the corridors of state institutions, including security.”
He added, "The extent of corruption in state security institutions is large, and it created a gap with citizens, the results of which led to the events of 2014, especially since this scourge has greatly penetrated the institutions and has sometimes turned into a factor of pressure and harm on citizens."
Al-Qaddo pointed out that “the end of the liberation battles revealed many papers and files and demonstrated the danger of corruption in weakening the state’s security institutions. The process of change began through three methods, the most prominent of which are exposing corruption, identifying its pillars, and prosecuting those involved in it, in addition to doubling the role of the competent agencies, including intelligence and others, in uncovering any defect.” Whether officers or ranks.”
A member of the Parliamentary Security Committee pointed out that “the security institution has changed significantly and there is a war on corruption, but it needs time, especially since the matter is complex, but the senior security leadership is serious and there are dozens of files under investigation before the competent authorities.”
