    Al-Hayat News:
Today, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani stressed the importance of involving the private sector in the prepared tourism plans.
His media office stated in a statement received by Al-Hayat News, that “the latter chaired a meeting that included the Minister of Culture, Tourism, Antiquities and Heritage, the heads of the Tourism, Antiquities and Heritage Commissions and the advanced cadres in them . During the meeting, the reality of tourism in Iraq was reviewed and the most prominent problems and obstacles that prevent the development of this important sector.” “With all the ingredients for success available, whether in the field of religious tourism or other fields of tourism.”
He added that, during the meeting, the importance of tourism and the necessity of promoting it was emphasized, because of what it represents from a civilized standpoint for the country, as well as its role in economic development, in creating jobs, and its contribution to enhance the national product, especially since one of the government's priorities is economic reform and addressing the unilateral economy. “And diversify it by activating vital sectors, including the tourism sector, which the government is keen to revitalize for the next stage, based on its government program.”
Al-Sudani directed the holding of an ongoing workshop that defines the objectives of the tourism sector in all its forms, and outlines the requirements for its advancement. He also stressed the importance of involving the private sector in the prepared tourism plans.
He called on the Tourism Authority to work to develop the capabilities of specialized cadres in tourism, and to keep pace with the latest developments witnessed by this sector globally.
