    Baghdad today - Baghdad
Today, Thursday (October 26, 2023), the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, issued a directive to security leaders on the need to exercise caution and continue to pursue the remnants of ISIS terrorist gangs who are waiting for opportunities to create a breach in the country.
Al-Sudani’s media office stated in a statement received by “Baghdad Today” that “The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani, attended this morning the (Iron Hammer) tactical exercise in the planned attack, which was carried out by the Ground Forces Command/Ninth Armored Division in the Iraqi army, with the participation of Army Aviation, Air Defense and Air Force Command.
Al-Sudani praised, according to the statement, “the efforts of the military forces carrying out the tactical exercise accurately, which confirms the state of continuous preparation and training that brought the units to this level,” urging “continuation of training to sustain the Iraqi army units with this high level of readiness in the face of various challenges.”
He pointed out "the importance of these activities and their sustainability," stressing "the necessity of defining training programs, and for military inspectorates to evaluate the training activities that we want to be implemented in a professional and high-level manner."
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces affirmed “the government’s seriousness in developing the armament of the army and the rest of the security services, which did not receive the required equipment during the last period,” indicating that “working with practical and effective steps to achieve this goal, as all types and security formations will have advanced weapons with the latest technology.” Committees have been formed for this purpose, and contracts with multiple establishments will soon begin.”
Al-Sudani directed, “Security leaders must exercise caution and continue to pursue the remnants of ISIS terrorist gangs who are waiting for opportunities to create a breach in this or that region.”
