Independent MP Sajjad Salem confirmed today, Wednesday (November 8, 2023), that Iraq is effectively between the jaws of Iran and America, indicating that the Gaza war demonstrated this clearly .
The Iraqi issue and pressures
Salem said in an interview with “Baghdad Today” that, “No one can deny the extent of the American and Iranian interventions in internal Iraqi affairs on various political, security, economic, and other files. These interventions are not a new thing, and have no relation to the Gaza war, but they contributed to making them clear.” .
He explained that "Iraq is under Iranian and American pressures and influences, and these pressures had many negative factors on the internal Iraqi reality and caused many crises over the past years," stressing that "Iraq must be independent, remove itself from these pressures, and exercise its leadership role in the region and the world." "Away from any external agenda."
Iraqis burned pictures of US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a massive demonstration with the participation of thousands of followers of the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, last Sunday, in protest against Blinken’s visit to Iraq.
