Al-Salhi said in an interview with Al-Maalouma Agency, “The government attaches great importance to protecting the local product and preventing smuggling through unofficial outlets.”
He added, "Kurdistan's unofficial border crossings have become vulnerable to corruption, trading in people's health, profiteering, and illegal gain," noting that "the government is determined to put an end to control over those crossings."
He explained, "Today everyone is required to work side by side to eliminate chaos at the border crossings in order to protect the citizen and his safety and preserve the country's economy."
The Border Ports Authority revealed earlier that there are 11 ports in the Kurdistan region, 6 of which are officially recognized by the authorities in Baghdad, and 5 others are unofficial. Ended / 25h
