    The expert specializing in oil affairs, Bahjat Ahmed, confirmed today, Monday (December 25, 2023), that Turkey will not agree to resume exporting Kurdistan oil at all.
    Ahmed said in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "Turkey will not agree to resume oil exports through the Turkish port of Ceyhan except under impossible conditions, including canceling the Iraqi lawsuit filed against it, which includes Ankara paying an amount of one billion and 400 million dollars to Baghdad."
    He added, "There is no technical problem that hinders the resumption of oil exports, but these are arguments, and the process of resuming exports is more of a political problem than a technical one."
    He pointed out that "the Iraqi Ministry of Oil and SOMO are searching for an alternative to resume exports quickly and benefit from funds. Among the alternatives are internal consumption, export to Syria, or other alternatives."
    The Turkish government had confirmed the readiness of the pipelines to resume oil exports from the Kurdistan region via the Turkish port of Ceyhan. However, specialists revealed that the foreign oil companies operating in Kurdistan and the nature of their contracts are what hinders the process of resuming oil exports, while Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani confirmed work on making amendments. On the budget regarding wages and costs of oil production for foreign companies to resume oil exports.
