    The media advisor to Prime Minister Hisham Al-Rikabi confirmed that the government is committed to implementing the electronic payment decision in various ministries, as part of its efforts to combat corruption and enhance transparency.
    Al-Rikabi said in a press statement followed by Al-News on Wednesday, “The government is working to accelerate the pace of implementing the electronic payment decision in various ministries, with the aim of reducing cash transactions that increase the chances of corruption.”
    He added, “The government has an ambition to reach the end of the parallel market for the dollar in the coming days, by implementing a rational economic policy and strict measures against exchange rate manipulators.”
    Al-Rikabi explained, “The government supports all initiatives that contribute to enhancing transparency and combating corruption, including the electronic payment application, which contributes to reducing the volume of cash liquidity in the market and makes it difficult for the corrupt to obtain money.”
    He stressed that “the government will not allow corruption to return to Iraq, and will continue to take all necessary measures to combat it.”
    The importance of electronic payment
    Electronic payment is one of the most important modern means that contribute to enhancing transparency and combating corruption, by reducing the amount of cash liquidity in the market and making it difficult for corrupt people to obtain money.
    Electronic payment also contributes to facilitating government procedures and saving time and effort for citizens and employees.
    In Iraq, the electronic payment policy has witnessed remarkable development recently, as many ministries and government agencies have begun to implement it.
    The Iraqi government aims to generalize electronic payment in all ministries and government agencies, as part of its efforts to combat corruption and enhance transparency.
