    Today, Friday (January 26, 2024), a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Wafa Muhammad Karim, revealed the details of disbursing the salaries of Kurdistan Region employees.
    Karim told "Baghdad Today", "The region needs 930 billion dinars per month, to be able to pay the salaries of employees, retirees, Peshmerga forces, and social care."
    He added, "The amount sent by the federal government, amounting to 618 billion dinars, in addition to the amount of 320 billion dinars in revenues from the border crossings and the amount of 23 billion dinars in donations from the International Coalition for the Peshmerga, is barely enough to distribute salaries."
    Files need billions 
    Karim pointed out, “There are not only salaries in the region, but there are obligations, services, projects, and miscellaneous expenses for which the regional government is responsible, and these files require billions.”
    For his part, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Dilshad Shaaban, conditional the end of the problems between the two parties on the implementation of a "single condition," according to what he told "Baghdad Al-Youm."
    Shaaban said, on Wednesday (January 24, 2025), that “the issue of sending financial advances and amounts every month will not solve the root of the problem existing between the federal government and the regional government.”
    He added, "The problem is deeper and bigger, and its solution is simple: approving the oil and gas law," stressing that "its approval will end the ongoing economic crisis in the region."
    Shaaban pointed out, "The oil and gas law was supposed to be approved within the Council of Ministers and sent to Parliament, but it seems that there is a political force that does not want to approve this law."
    The regional government had reached an agreement with the Baghdad government to export the region's oil through the central government, and in return, 12.6 percent of the federal budget would be allocated to Iraqi Kurdistan.
    Although the Baghdad government released 500 billion dinars for the salaries of the Kurdistan region, correcting the situation requires double this amount per month, according to the Erbil government.
    The central government has long faced accusations from the Kurdistan Regional Government of not sending funds for the salaries of its civilian employees, while Baghdad itself is witnessing protests over salaries, wages, and the living situation in a crisis that includes the entire country.
