Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani sponsored the signing of the contract for the “Ali Al-Wardi” city project, the largest residential project in Iraq, while he stressed that the strategy of solutions The government's housing crisis includes creating infrastructure-serviced cities. The Council of Ministers voted on a number of decisions to advance lagging service projects.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a statement: Under the patronage and presence of Prime Minister Mohamed Shiaa Al-Sudani, a contract for the new Ali Al-Wardi residential city project was signed by the Minister of Housing, Construction and Municipalities, with the director of ORA Real Estate Development Company, Naguib Sawiris, and it is the largest project. Among the five new residential city projects in their first phase, the government program gave them priority for implementation.
The Prime Minister indicated, during the signing ceremony, that the strategy for solving the housing crisis followed by the government includes creating cities serviced by infrastructure, with thousands of different housing units available, to suit various categories of citizens, and it also works to reduce population pressure on the city of Baghdad. He stressed that this project is being implemented for the first time in the history of Iraq of this size and capacity, and that it comes in compliance with what was stated in the government program regarding finding radical and sustainable solutions to the housing crisis.
He also expressed his appreciation for the performance of the specialized team in the Ministry of Housing and Reconstruction, the Baghdad Municipality, and the rest of the concerned departments, which confirms that the investment environment in Iraq has become effectively prepared and attractive.
For his part, Sawiris stated that this partnership with Iraq to implement the Ali al-Wardi residential city will be a turning point in cooperation and sharing in the pioneering and innovative vision for implementing residential cities, which takes into account the balance between environmental and population needs.
The new city project, which bears the name of the late Iraqi sociologist and thinker Dr. Ali Al-Wardi, extends over an area of 61 million square meters to the southeastern side of the capital, Baghdad, and will provide 120,000 diverse housing units, in addition to urban facilities, green spaces, and smart city technological means. In order to apply advanced standards in sustainability and environmental preservation.
Mr. Sawiris and Ora Company are considered among the most prominent companies known in the field of real estate development at the regional and international levels, and contracting with them comes within the government’s directives to establish successful partnerships with advanced companies and businessmen known for their quality implementation and expertise.
Meanwhile, the office of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani announced the most prominent decisions voted on by the Council to proceed with service projects that have been lagging and stalled for years in Baghdad and the governorates, as part of the government’s priorities in reconstructing infrastructure and improving services.
The Prime Minister’s Media Office stated in a statement: “The Council of Ministers voted on a set of decisions to proceed with service projects that have been lagging and stalled for years in Baghdad and the governorates, as part of the government’s priorities in reconstructing infrastructure and improving services, which included:
* Increasing the reserve percentage for the (design and implementation) component. Al-Fadhiliya Hospital, capacity 200 beds).
* Increasing the reserve percentage for the component (design and implementation of the People’s Hospital with a capacity of 200 beds).
* Increasing the reserve ratio for the component (design and implementation of the 400-bed Al-Hurriya Hospital).
* Increasing the total cost of the design and implementation project (Al-Shaab and Al-Fadhiliya Hospitals, 200 beds) and developing Al-Numan Hospital.
* Increasing the reserve percentage for the component (supervising the implementation of the sewage project in the districts of Al-Shirqat, Baiji, and Al-Qadisiyah district in Tikrit)
* Increasing the total cost of the project to implement sewage and rainwater sewer networks with lifting and pumping stations (for sewage and rainwater), with treatment plants (5) for the districts ; Touz, Baiji, Balad, Al-Sharqat, Tikrit neighborhood, and Al-Qadisiyah neighborhood.
* Increasing the reserve ratio for the contract (construction of the land Hajj road/first phase, 50 km long), one of the components of the project (construction of the land Hajj road, 239 km long, in stages).
* Increasing the reserve ratio for the project (establishing the Nineveh passenger transport station).
* Creating a component (supplementary works for Balad city treatment plant/m2 in Salah al-Din Governorate).
* Increasing the reserve percentage for the project component (infrastructure work for areas in the center of Basra Governorate), which is 17.
* Increasing the reserve percentage for the project contract (constructing the classroom building for the College of Nursing in Fallujah) in Anbar Governorate.
*Proceeding with the project (cladding a main road and residential shops) in the capital, Baghdad, as follows:
- Preparing and extending ductile pipes for pure water to renew the Mahalla network 627. -
Preparing and extending ductile pipes for pure water to renew the Mahalla network 639.
- Preparing and extending ductile pipes for pure water to renew the Mahalla network 641.
-Rehabilitation of Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis Street (from Umm Al-Tabul to the Baghdad Airport halls in both directions).
* Resolving lagging projects in Diwaniyah Governorate, as follows:
- The contracting company will complete the work of the treatment plant and the main conveyor lines in the governorate.
Separating the remaining works for the 42 neighborhoods, as well as the payment stations, from the contracting company’s work, and referring them to a new company.
- Implementation of additional neighborhood works by a separate contractor, in accordance with the decision of the Ministerial Council for the Economy.[/size]
