Hanaa Al Rostamani, CEO of First Abu Dhabi Bank Group, topped the list for the second year in a row, as she was ranked among the Forbes list of the 100 most powerful women in the world for the year 2023, ranking 63rd in the overall list, and 14th in the finance category.

Iraq was excluded from Forbes Middle East's comprehensive list of the most powerful businesswomen in the Middle East. Meanwhile, Iraqi businesswomen had a remarkable presence in 2023 on the list of “50 Women Who Created Middle Eastern Brands,” and they are: Hoda Kattan, Mona Kattan, and Zeina Zaki.

While in 2023, Iraqi-American Huda Kattan ranked 30th on the same list in the beauty sector, and she is the founder and CEO of the famous brand Huda Beauty.

The list of the 100 most powerful businesswomen in the Middle East this year includes 104 women from 27 different sectors and 28 nationalities. Egyptian women top the list with 17 businesswomen, followed by Emirati women with 14 women, then Saudi and Lebanese women with 9 women each.

To prepare the list, several criteria were adopted, including: business size, extent of influence in the region, markets in which they operate, achievements achieved during the past year, as well as the sustainability and social responsibility initiatives they led. While we excluded family business leaders this year.
