Erdogan and Sudanese discussions
Member of the Parliamentary Relations Committee, MP Amer Al-Fayez, confirms that 4 files will dominate the discussions of Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Baghdad.
Al-Fayez said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The anticipated visit of the Turkish President to Baghdad will bring with it a discussion of outstanding issues between the two countries, most notably water and absolute quantities, as well as the presence of Turkish forces deep in Iraqi territory and their stability in bases and stations, and the file of the Kurdistan Workers' Party." He added, "Not to mention the economic issue and ways to develop relations, especially since Turkey sees it as an important issue and a priority, with great opportunities for work in various sectors in Iraq."
He explained, "Ankara has sincere relations with Kurdish, Turkmen, and Sunni forces in Iraq, and it may be an attempt by Ankara to bring viewpoints closer even though it is an internal matter, but the dimensions of friendship may prompt an attempt to bring viewpoints closer between the parties."
Turkish operations in the region
He stated that "Iraq's participation with Turkey in any operation in the Kurdistan region against the Kurdistan Workers' Party is out of the question, and Baghdad will not interact with it because the constitution prohibits that, but cooperation mechanisms can be put in place to prevent the party from exploiting its presence in some areas to launch and target Turkish territory."
He pointed out that "the possibility of concluding bilateral agreements between Baghdad and Ankara during Erdogan's increase related to security cooperation is very likely in light of the presence of several common files, most notably borders and smuggling." Erbil is on the agenda
For his part, member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Dilshad Shaaban, confirmed today, Thursday, that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s visit to Baghdad will also include Erbil.
Shaaban said in an interview with "Baghdad Today", "The visit will include discussing a number of files of common interest between Ankara and Erbil, whether in security or economic aspects."
He added, "The visit will discuss the file of securing the border strip and the armed groups opposed to Turkey and the file of their presence in the region, as well as enhancing trade exchange and the issue of resuming the export of Kurdistan oil through the Turkish port of Ceyhan."
He pointed out that "strengthening economic relations and the file of Turkish investments in the region will be discussed."
Today, Thursday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit the capital, Baghdad, to prepare for the visit of Turkish President Recep Erdogan to Iraq .
A government source told "Baghdad Today", "Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will make an official visit to the capital, Baghdad, on Thursday in order to arrange the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the end of this month . "
Earlier, Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Yildiz announced that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan intends to pay a visit to Iraq before the end of next March .
Yildiz said, on the sidelines of his visit to Baghdad, that “according to planning and preparations, Erdogan’s visit to Iraq will take place before the end of March . ”
At the end of last February, on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan the program of Erdogan’s upcoming visit to Iraq
