The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Ankara, Majid Al-Lajmawi, confirmed today, Saturday (April 20, 2024), that the Turkish President’s visit to Iraq will witness the signing of a strategic framework agreement that has been worked on in recent months, covering many areas.
Al-Lajmawi said in a statement received by Baghdad Today, “The visit of the President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to Baghdad will contribute to resolving the outstanding issues between the two neighboring countries.”
He added, "The visit will achieve a comprehensive qualitative leap in the cooperation relations between Iraq and Turkey," indicating that it "will witness the signing of a strategic framework agreement that has been worked on in recent months that addresses the security, economic, and development fields, and progress in the water and energy files, as well as the process of resuming exports." The ambassador pointed out, "The visit of the Turkish President comes within the framework of the two countries' efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between them, especially in light of the presence of many projects and memorandums of understanding that may be concluded between the two countries, most notably the path of development, and Turkey's role in this vital strategic project."

The Turkish Foreign Ministry had previously announced, through Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Yildiz, that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would pay a visit to Iraq before the end of April.
