    The Ministry of Oil has set April 27 as the date for the launch of the fifth and sixth complementary licensing rounds.
    Assistant Director General of the Department of Petroleum Contracts and Licensing at the Ministry, Muhammad Najm Al-Saadi, said in an interview with “Al-Sabah” followed by “Al-Iqtisad News” that the sales of information bags for the fields that will be presented during the two rounds are still continuing despite their reaching more than 20 bags, indicating that The Italian National Oil Agency, ENI, the giant oil exploration and extraction company, and Shell, the leader in the oil market, were among the advanced companies that bought these portfolios.
    He pointed out the launch of the fifth complementary and sixth rounds on the twenty-seventh of this month, noting that the total number of projects proposed in them is 30 projects, distributed by 16 projects within the annex of the fifth complementary round, including 8 exploration blocks with oil promise, and 8 oil fields, in addition to 14 projects. Within the sixth round, there were 11 exploration blocks with gas promise and 3 with oil promise.
    It is noteworthy that the Minister of Oil, Hayan Abdul Ghani, confirmed in his speech at the Ninth Energy Conference that the government had activated the fifth licensing rounds within the petroleum licensing rounds, which had been suspended during the last period before the formation of this government, pointing out that the government, in return, worked on the priority of signing and activating these contracts because of their importance. It is important to invest in gas and use it to generate electrical energy, by developing a plan to stop burning gas in various oil fields, in addition to concluding many contracts and activating agreements in this field with a focus on using clean and renewable energy and following the best established practices.
