Kirby added that regardless of its internationally-recognized borders, US-led coalition forces have the authority to strike Daesh targets within Syria.
Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with the country’s government fighting a number of opposition factions and radical Islamist groups, including the Daesh, which is outlawed in many countries, including Russia.

The United States is unaware of Turkish heavy artillery strikes against positions on Syrian territory, US Department of State spokesperson John Kirby said on Monday.
WASHINGTON Sputnik) — Earlier on Monday, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said Turkish artillery shelled a small town in Syria's northern Latakia province inflicting casualties among the civilian population."I don’t have any details on their [Turkish] artillery strikes. I am not aware of the specifics of those operations," Kirby stated when asked about Russian defense ministry video of Turkish cross-border shelling of targets in Syria.
Kirby added that regardless of its internationally-recognized borders, US-led coalition forces have the authority to strike Daesh targets within Syria.
