Duhok Christians celebrate Christmas with traditional food and sweets

Hannah, a Christian woman in Duhok is marking her 70th Christmas in this city. Every year she celebrates this day with cooking meals unique to the Christians of this province.
She says she goes to the market two days before Christmas and buys parts of a sheep, mainly the head, legs and intestines, what is locally called pacha, and cleans and cooks them for the special day.
Around 80,000 Christians live in Duhok province and their churches light up with candles and their bells ring on this day every year. One Christian man says: “Our Muslim brothers all come to our events. And we go to their events, too.”
