    Information / Baghdad ...
A US court on Thursday convicted Blackwater security guard Nicholas Slaten of first-degree murder after deliberately shooting a civilian at Nisour Square in Baghdad in 2007.
"Slatan was convicted of killing Iraqi Ahmed Haitham Ahmed al-Rubaie, one of 14 civilians killed when Blackwater guards opened fire at Nisour Square," the Sky News news agency quoted the Washington Public Prosecutors Office as saying.
"Slaten, who was a member of Blackwater, is in custody and faces life imprisonment," he said.
"Solten's conviction of the murder came a year after a federal appeals court dismissed his initial conviction in 2014, saying he had to be tried separately from three other Blackwater guards who took part in the incident," it said. Ending / 25 z
