    Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Planning announced that a technical team from the Central Follow-up carried out a field visit to the Great Port of Al-Faw project in Basra Governorate, with the aim of identifying the percentages of completion and the problems surrounding the implementation of the project, in order to address them in cooperation with the concerned authorities.
    The ministry said in a statement, received by the "National News Center", that "the team's visit included reviewing the progress of work in the port's infrastructure, which is one of the important strategic projects."
    She pointed out that "the planned capacity of the project upon completion is estimated at (99 million) tons annually, to be one of the largest ports overlooking the Arabian Gulf and the tenth in the world."
    She added that "the foundation stone for this project was laid in 2010, in the Ras Al-Bishah area at the end of the continental shelf of Iraq," noting that "the project is a qualitative leap in its logistical importance to link Iraq with the world because it is the link between the East and the West, and its establishment will change the transportation map." World Naval.
    And she indicated that "the project is being implemented by (the Korean Daewoo Engineering and Construction Company) at a cost of more than (3) trillion Iraqi dinars," stressing that "the central follow-up team identified all the obstacles facing the project and made the necessary recommendations for the purpose of completing the project as quickly as possible."
