    Today, Thursday (May 16, 2024), Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed the formation of a technical team to follow up on the procedures for implementing the development road project.
    A statement from the Prime Minister's Office, received by "Baghdad Today", stated that Al-Sudani "chaired, today, the eighth meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Development Road Project, during which the most important files related to this strategic project were discussed and previous procedures and directives were followed up."
    It was decided, during the meeting, according to the statement, “to form a technical team of the general directors of the railways, ports, roads, bridges, and customs directorates, in addition to the membership of a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for the purpose of following up on the implementation of the decisions and preparing the requirements to proceed with the project files.”
    The meeting also approved "continuing communication with the countries of the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Turkey, and the State of Qatar, which signed memorandums of understanding with Iraq related to the development road project, through the competent coordination committee, as well as completing the writing of the draft law on the Grand Al-Faw Port," according to the statement.
    The Prime Minister directed "to follow up on the procedures that are emphasized during the meetings, first and foremost, and to prepare a study related to industrial cities in cooperation with (Oliver Wyman) Consulting Services Company, in terms of economic feasibility and maximizing public benefit, and in various economic sectors."
    Al-Sudani reviewed "the report of the conflict resolution committee formed under the chairmanship of the Director of the Prime Minister's Office, which confirmed the resolution of these conflicts with the ministries, and their approval by all governorates through which the development road project passes."
     The Prime Minister also directed "the continuation of work between the Legal Department in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers and the Legal Advisor Department in the Prime Minister's Office, to develop an integrated vision from a legal standpoint that regulates project management and ensures the best returns and economic options."
