The Ministry of Planning follows up on the implementation stages of the Nasiriyah International Airport project

[rtl]Baghdad / NINA / The Ministry of Planning continues field follow-up operations for investment projects throughout Iraq, with the aim of identifying the problems that hinder the completion of these projects, and taking the necessary measures to address them by the concerned authorities.
The ministry stated in a statement, "In this context, the specialized field follow-up teams in the ministry carried out a field visit to the Nasiriyah International Airport project, which is one of the projects implemented by the Ministry of Transport in Dhi Qar Governorate."
The ministry indicated that "its specialized teams visited the Nasiriyah International Airport project, which is one of the important and major strategic and economic projects for the Civil Aviation Authority."
The statement added, "The total area of the project is more than (16) million square meters, while the capacity reached (750) thousand passengers annually as a first phase, and it is hoped that it will be doubled to reach two million and five hundred thousand passengers after the opening."
The statement explained that "the project includes a group of buildings and facilities, including the main departure buildings, VIP departure buildings, and others for air control and loading goods, in addition to establishing an additional runway, a three-storey hotel, which contains rooms, restaurants and halls, as well as the airport administration building with two buildings for airport employees, the control tower, in addition to the rest of the administrative and technical annexes of the airports according to international specifications, water, electricity, sewage and fuel filling stations, a fire-fighting station and an air cargo building with an area of (5000) square meters, in addition to the connecting roads with a length of (25) kilometers."
The statement pointed out that "the project completion rate has reached (32%), and it is expected to be completed in October 2025, indicating that the completion of this project represents an important addition to the tourism sector in the governorate, as it will contribute to facilitating the movement of travelers between Dhi Qar Governorate and the governorates, and the rest of the world with optimal marketing of archaeological and natural tourism in general, and the Ziggurat of Ur and the marshes in particular, in addition to thousands of job opportunities that the project will provide, which will positively reflect on the national economy."
The statement indicated that "there are some problems and conflicts that hinder the implementation of the project, calling on the ministry in its statement the concerned authorities to address them as soon as possible, in order to complete the project according to the specified timetables." / End H[/rtl]
