    Baghdad / Al-Mawrid News
Today, Tuesday, the atmosphere of the capital, Baghdad, was covered with smog resulting from the burning of plastic waste.
A smell of sulfur spread in the airspace of Baghdad, which started after midnight, while in the morning the smell disappeared and a foggy, smoky atmosphere prevailed.
An environmental expert said, "This smog is caused by burning plastic waste and oil residues."

He added, "Baghdad is now witnessing a rate of toxic pollution and dense, carcinogenic smog."
He stressed, "Baghdad is witnessing, on this day, the highest pollution rates in the world, surpassing Bombay, Calcutta and New Delhi."
