Banning the burning of sanitary landfill waste in Najaf

The Najaf Municipality has adopted several urgent measures to prevent waste burning at the sanitary landfill site in the governorate.
The director of the Najaf Municipality, Karar Mawash, said in a statement to Al-Sabah: The municipality has adopted several measures to prevent burning operations in the sanitary landfill site, the first of which is fencing the site and installing solar-powered cameras, with spotlights to see any activity that occurs there at night and to facilitate the work of police patrols to monitor it.
He added that the measures included increasing the number of workers assigned to monitor the site to 24, who would take turns being present at the site day and night, in addition to expediting the transfer of waste from the site and not delaying its presence.
Residents of the northern neighborhoods of Najaf complained about the burning operations that take place at night at the landfill site near their areas to obtain the minerals or iron that is thrown there.
