The outgoing Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said, on Tuesday, that he was "subjected to three assassination attempts", including the last attempt that targeted his residence with drones.
He added, during a video speech that he said that he hoped it would be the "last" during the Iraqi cabinet meeting, that he had "chosen the policy of silence and patience" since the first day of forming the government "to avoid the frustration of the citizens."
Al-Kazemi said that he has "full confidence in the new government, and it must have a quick budget to carry out its tasks and duties towards the people," adding, "I hope the political forces will work to facilitate the task of Mr. Sudanese, and give him the freedom to choose his cabinet to serve his people, a freedom that has been deprive us of it."
Al-Kazemi said that "his government was formed, and it began with a complex social circumstance, where most of our cities were in the hands of the demonstrators," and described the demonstrations as a "revolution" in which "many martyrs of our youth fell, and many serious injuries for the sake of the dignity and future of Iraq."
He said that the government was on the verge of a real economic collapse, in addition to the challenges of the Corona situation and the collapse of oil prices, as well as the international conflict, "which some wanted to turn Iraq into a backyard for international and regional conflicts."
Al-Kazemi praised his reform plan known as the White Paper, and said, "We succeeded in saving our economy and moving it from the stage of collapse to the stage of growth, and now Iraq has recorded, according to an international report issued this month, the fastest growth in the Middle East and the second country in the world with a growth rate of 9.3%."
He added, "This government is two and a half years old, worked for twenty-eight months, and received only six months of the budget. Despite all this, we succeeded in crossing an important stage."
He continued, "The central bank's reserves were down at the moment we received the government. It was 49 billion dollars. Today we have a reserve of 85 billion dollars, and we had gold reserves close to 96 tons. Today it is about 134 tons, and this did not come randomly. Some say from oil prices and this is not It is true that many countries in the world have increased oil prices, but no growth has been recorded in them, and this is due to the reform paper that we applied."
Al-Kazemi said from the first moment, we had a vision to reform the Ministry of Finance, which was adopted by the former minister, and we presented a set of reform projects, and it was met with strong objections by parliamentarians and political blocs to prevent reform in the Ministry of Finance and to maintain traditional mechanisms that do not fit the era.
The former Finance Minister, Ali Allawi, resigned a few months ago, and presented in a lengthy letter of resignation several reasons that prompted him for the decision, including what he said was pressure from the political blocs.
Al-Kazemi said, "I remember that the former minister presented a comprehensive accounting project that requires automation and modern methods, but everyone fought against it, yet we continued to work with it, and it takes time." , as happened in the matter of the secretariats in the Tax Authority, which we announced to reveal, and some tried to protect the corrupt and thieves and transfer the accusation to the government.”
He stressed that "this issue does not concern the government, but rather a department of the Ministry of Finance, with all this, I was the first to alert the former minister about this phenomenon in 2021, and directed him to conduct an investigation, and in light of the investigation, he issued an order to prevent the disbursement of any tax trusts without obtaining the minister's approval." .
Al-Kazemi stressed that "some people are trying to obstruct any success, since the first day we announced the anti-corruption project, the government did not receive parliamentary sponsorship for known reasons. We fought corruption and were subjected to great pressure, threats and extortion."
He said that "what was announced regarding the issue of taxes is one of the big challenges. History will do justice to this government, and this will be shown by the investigations that the judiciary is carrying out calmly." To him, he tried to make a fuss, and take advantage of some circumstances to create chaos and cover up the real corrupt and the causes of this problem.”
"We have achieved a lot and we are all proud of it, and we do not pay attention to the voices that are trying to blackmail the public money, and they are the voices most involved in protecting the corrupt," he added.
He added, "I have endured many contradictions, accusations, slanders, and even assassination attempts."
He said that he rejected attempts to "internationalize the issue of his assassination to protect Iraq and the Iraqis, although there are those who question any step taken by the government."
And he continued, "Be confident that we are not faint with what is happening on the ground, and the state knows everything, and if the state wants to open the files, it will cause earthquakes, and the Iraqi situation does not bear earthquakes, but rather needs construction and patience for the future of Iraqis."
And the new Iraqi president, Abdul Latif Rashid, assigned the coordination framework candidate, Muhammad Shia, to form the new Iraqi government, a year after the elections, which was full of conflicts that delayed the formation of the government

stolen money case
Al-Kazemi touched on the issue of stolen funds from Al-Rafidain Bank, which information says is worth more than two billion dollars.Al-Kazemi said from the first moment, we had a vision to reform the Ministry of Finance, which was adopted by the former minister, and we presented a set of reform projects, and it was met with strong objections by parliamentarians and political blocs to prevent reform in the Ministry of Finance and to maintain traditional mechanisms that do not fit the era.

policy of "silence"
Al-Kazemi said that he followed the policy of “silence” from the first moment, because “Iraq has many problems and many challenges.” He added, “I resorted to the policy of patience and silence because I did not want to enlarge the problems and engage in political rivalries. Poverty became part of it, the lack of services provision and the failure to education.”He added, "I have endured many contradictions, accusations, slanders, and even assassination attempts."
He said that he rejected attempts to "internationalize the issue of his assassination to protect Iraq and the Iraqis, although there are those who question any step taken by the government."
