On Monday, Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani directed the security services to form protection teams to accompany the companies implementing the projects to eliminate the phenomenon of “extortion,” while referring four sanitation projects on the outskirts of the capital, Baghdad.
The Sudanese media office stated in a statement that the latter conducted a tour in Baghdad Governorate to supervise the referral of strategic sanitation projects in the areas of Abu Ghraib, Al-Nahrawan, Saba Al-Bour, and Al-Wahda district, in addition to following up on the implementation of a number of service, urban, and infrastructure projects.
Al-Sudani pointed out the importance of sanitation projects as they are linked to the environmental and health reality of residential areas, and hinder the completion of the rest of the service and infrastructure projects, stressing the continuation of adopting the goal of providing services.
He added that the amounts for these projects have been secured, and the implementing companies have been selected after submitting to the criteria of comparison, efficiency, ability to implement, and financial potential. Moreover, work on the projects will be completely within three meals a day.
He stressed the rejection of any attempt at blackmail or bargaining that the companies implementing the projects may be exposed to, directing the security and executive agencies to fully confront such attempts, in addition to directing the Baghdad Operations Command to form teams to accompany the implementing companies. In order to provide effort and social services.
During the visit, Al-Sudani supervised the referral of four strategic projects for wastewater and rainwater to implementation companies from the private sector, as the capacity of the first project in Abu Ghraib district is 41 thousand cubic meters / day, with a total length of network extensions of 370 km, including 9 treatment stations. The second project is in the Nahrawan district, with a capacity of 67.5 thousand cubic meters/day, and lengths of extensions totaling 175 km, including 3 treatment plants. As for the third project, it will be implemented in Sabaa al-Bour district, with a capacity of 44.8 thousand cubic meters/day, and lengths of 286 km, including 3 stations. For treatment, while the fourth project is located in Al-Wahda district, with a capacity of 48 thousand cubic meters / day, and a length of 151 km, including five treatment plants.
The Prime Minister directed the contracting with a consultant for the purposes of follow-up, auditing and providing solutions, as well as the formation of an operations room with entities whose work conflicts with the implementation of these projects.
During the visit, he also reviewed the Baghdad security camera system, the measures taken to develop it, the future vision and the electronic services that were recently activated, stressing that all areas of Baghdad are covered with smart cameras, specifically the pivotal areas.
