Baghdad/ Iraq TradeLink: State of Law MP Alia N'saif warned that Kuwait is trying to bury parts of Khor Abdulla Canal and creating "islands" to be annexed to its territories.
She re-iterated its call for the Iraqi government "not to implement the agreement in this regard".
"Before many years we warned that Kuwait is building its Greater Mubarak Terminal in the narrowest area inside Khor Abdulla Canal, which contravened Article 70 of the Law of the Seas, aiming to strangle the Iraqi waterway", she elaborated.
"The Kuwaiti goal from burying these areas is to create islands in the shallow areas to strangle Iraqi territorial waters", she pointed out.
MP N'saif expressed astonishment for the "silence" of the Iraqi government on the Kuwaiti expansion on Iraqi soil and territorial waters in "an immoral war by the Kuwaiti side"..
