On Tuesday (18 April), Iran organized land, sea and air shows on the occasion of the Iranian Army Day.
Traffic pictures of military trucks carrying rockets surrounded by pictures of Hassan Rowhani showed a platform in Tehran and saluted soldiers of the president and army commanders as they passed. Fighters and bombers were also involved in an air show.
Iran has a traditional army that serves as a national defense force and the second is the IRGC, which was formed after the revolution to protect the Islamic Republic from opponents inside and outside the country. While the former has the largest ground force in the country, the latter controls an arsenal of ballistic missile capabilities.
Members of parliament approved plans to increase military spending by up to five percent of the budget to implement plans, including the development of Iran's long-range missile program, which President Donald Trump pledged to halt.
