Iraqi parliament receives a request to lift the immunity of 24 deputies and raise its meeting to the post-Eid
BAGHDAD, May 25 (KUNA) - Parliament Speaker Saleem al-Jubouri said on Thursday that the parliament has received a request from the Supreme Judicial Council to lift the immunity of 24 deputies, While a deputy from the Kurdistan Democratic Party resigned from the membership of the House of Representatives, raising his meeting until after Eid al-Fitr.
Al-Jubouri said that "the Council will adopt a new mechanism during the next legislative term to control the commitment of the deputies to attend the meetings." He added that "all licenses will be canceled and limited to eight meetings according to the rules of procedure.
"A team of staff will record the actual attendance based on the cameras in the meeting room," he said. AH
