    BAGHDAD, June 23 (KUNA) - Saad al-Hadithi, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office of Information, Haider al-Abadi, expressed his rejection of statements made by members of the Baghdad Provincial Council on the Kurds living in Baghdad.
    "We express our surprise and condemnation of the statements made by a member of the Baghdad Provincial Council regarding the Kurdish citizens in the capital Baghdad and other areas," al-Hadithi said in a statement.
    He added that "spreading rumors such as these positions and trends that threaten the civil peace and the spread of racism and hatred among the sons of one country, the current government headed by Dr. Abbadi since its first day that there is no country in the country a citizen of first degree and a citizen of the second degree.
    He continued that "We have already clarified our position on the referendum on the fate of the Kurdistan region, which we stressed that the Iraqi constitution is the legal reference adopted by the federal government and that all Iraqi parties to abide by its provisions and respect for its provisions and not to take unilateral steps."
