Port of Hamad breaks the siege of Qatar
The New Arab agency reported that Qatar had opened a new port after the Eid al-Adha, in order to face the siege imposed by the four countries led by Saudi Arabia.
The construction of Hamad port lasted 10 months at a cost of $ 1.7 billion, the report said. It will also contribute to building links with India, Oman, Turkey and Pakistan. It will promote Qatar's target economy by the four countries, as well as supporting Qatar's future economic projects, namely, the Qatari economy's dependence in 2030 on gas sales revenues only.
Qatar, like other resource-rich countries, is seeking to use its strategic position to make Port Hamad the only regional logistics hub, the agency said.
"The port is considered one of the largest regional sea ports in the Gulf, with 7.5 million reservoirs per year," the agency concluded.
