[ltr]US President Donald Trump signed a decree declaring Florida a "major disaster zone" and ordered federal aid to the devastated region by Hurricane Irma.[/ltr]
[ltr]The announcement means that residents and businesses can apply for temporary housing grants, repairing damaged homes, low-interest loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs, according to Reuters.[/ltr]
[ltr]In addition, the federal government will reimburse the state authorities for emergency protection measures, including eviction and accommodation costs, as well as debris removal costs.[/ltr]
[ltr]Hurricane Erma, which hit the southeast and southwest coasts of Florida on Sunday, killed at least three people and more than 45 million others are at risk from the hurricane.[/ltr]
[ltr]The US National Hurricane Center reported that the wind speed associated with Erma was 175 km per hour and the center reduced its classification from the fourth to the second.[/ltr]
