[ltr]The Swiss government announced that the embassies of Riyadh and Tehran have signed an agreement to represent Iranian interests in Saudi Arabia and Saudi interests in Iran.[/ltr]
[ltr]"The two countries agreed to the Swiss offer to undertake and carry out a mandate to protect the interests of both sides in the two countries. Diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran were cut off in early January 2016," the Swiss authorities said.[/ltr]
[ltr]It also noted that "Berne's long history of representation of foreign interests includes partial consular services and, at times, diplomatic missions to States that have severed relations with each other if requested by the States concerned."[/ltr]
