[rtl]UN special envoy to Syria Stephane de Mistura held talks in Geneva on Tuesday with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov.[/rtl]
[rtl]During the meeting, De Mistura referred to the joint statement by the Russian and US presidents on Syria in Danang on Nov. 11,.[/rtl]
[rtl]The consultations were held in the context of preparations for the eighth round of joint Syrian negotiations to be launched on November 28 in Geneva.[/rtl]
[rtl]De Mistura plans to continue the series of consultations to prepare for the negotiations.[/rtl]
[rtl]In a joint statement on Syria issued on the sidelines of the APEC summit in Vietnam, Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump stressed the importance of Syria's reduction zones as one of the necessary conditions for a political settlement of the Syrian crisis.[/rtl]
