    [rtl]Trend Press / Agencies[/rtl]
[rtl]The United States and South Korea on Monday launched the largest air-to-air exercise in their history, which North Korea called a "total provocation," days after Pyongyang tested its strongest intercontinental ballistic missile.[/rtl]
[rtl]The exercises, which began Monday morning and continue for five days, involved 230 military aircraft, led by six US F-22 fighter jets and tens of thousands of troops, according to the South Korean army.[/rtl]
[rtl]According to the Yonhap News Agency, "Vigilant A" exercises on the Korean peninsula are held annually to "strengthen the defense posture", but this time is "unprecedented training in terms of size and strength"He said.[/rtl]
[rtl]Pyongyang criticized the exercises and accused the administration of President Donald Trump of "pursuing a nuclear war.""He said.[/rtl]
[rtl]The exercise comes five days after Pyongyang tested a new intercontinental ballistic missile that says it is making the entire territory of the United States in its own right.[/rtl]
[rtl]As tensions escalated, Republican Sen. Lindsay Graham warned that America was close to launching a preemptive strike against North Korea.[/rtl]
[rtl]"If you conduct an underground nuclear test then you have to be prepared for the various forms of response from Washington," Graham said on CBS"He said.[/rtl]
[rtl]The isolated regime in North Korea has conducted six nuclear tests since 2006, the latest of which was in September.[/rtl]
[rtl]"With each missile test and every underground nuclear test, it means that mating between them is likely"He said.[/rtl]
[rtl]He agrees with national security adviser Herbert McMaster, who said at a security forum in Washington on Saturday that the prospect of war with North Korea "is increasing day by day"He said.[/rtl]
[rtl]North Korea claimed that the Huasong-15 missile, which was tested on Wednesday, was capable of delivering a "supernatural nuclear warhead" anywhere on US soil..[/rtl]
[rtl]Analysts agree that Pyongyang's recent experience has shown significant progress in terms of missile range, but it is likely to be achieved by a lighter, darkened nuclear warhead.[/rtl]
