The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed the approval of Prime Minister Haider Abadi on the formation of a committee to resolve the dispute over the share of the Kurdistan region of the budget.

Al-Hayat International reported on the member of the committee, MP Masoud Haider, that Abadi "agreed to the proposal of the Committee, and to establish a special technical committee to discuss the differences between Baghdad and Erbil on the share of the Kurdistan region in the federal budget."

Haidar stressed his hope that the new committee will complete its work within a few days, ending the dispute and passing the budget unanimously and with the approval of all the parliamentary blocs.

This reduced the member of the National Alliance MP Ali al-Badiri of the chances of passing the draft budget law during the current week.

The newspaper said al-Badiri that "the dispute over the federal budget law is still in place, and there are blocs seem to insist on not pass the budget only after the approval of the demands, and this in itself a problem."

He stressed that "it is difficult to agree to some of the demands," pointing out that "the last hope for the budget is next Tuesday, and if not pass will remain stuck."
