The head of the Jordanian parliament, Atef Tarawneh, said that the daughter of former Iraqi president Raghad Saddam Hussein is in his country and that Amman will not cover her if she is convicted of terrorism.

In early February, the Iraqi government published lists of dozens of Baghdad wanted men, including Raghad Saddam, who lashed out at Jordan some 15 years ago.

Al-Tarawneh said in an interview that Raghad Saddam Hussein was "employed" in the Kingdom of Jordan to preserve and secure her life.

"We are Arabs and understand the meanings, indications and obligations of the trade," he said, adding that "hosting them does not violate Jordanian law."

He added that his country "tries any Jordanian or foreign citizen exposed to neighboring countries, and is held accountable and the Jordanian law is the Faisal in this matter."

"The issue is not intransigence or provocation to neighboring countries," he said.

When asked if Raghad was supporting terrorism, Taraouane said: "There is a judiciary, and if convicted, it will not be covered by Jordan."

"But there are criteria for establishing them in the Kingdom of Jordan, which is a guest and did not depart from what is permitted under Jordanian law, and did not engage in any political activity that harms Iraq from Jordanian territory."

Iraqi authorities have accused Raghad Saddam with the support of armed groups aimed at undermining governance experience that came after the overthrow of her father 's regime by US forces in 2003.
