"Despite all attempts to maintain the sustainability of the desalination units, the high salt content has led to a decrease in efficiency and therefore a complete halt," Assistant Director General for Production and Projects Ibrahim Abdel-Zahra said in a press statement.
He added that "rapid measures have been taken by the company's stakeholders and the work and efforts of continuous 24 hours a day and night, in cooperation with the Basra Oil Company and the Southern Fertilizer and the company to produce electricity, and the work was restarted and gradually start the production lines."

South Refineries Company announced that its production lines have been idle since last Thursday because of the rapid increase in the salts associated with water supplied from Shatt al-Arab.
