Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi said on Monday that Iraq's position on "aggression" on neighboring countries.
"Our position is consistent with the rejection of aggression against neighboring countries from Iraqi territory," Abadi said at the weekly conference.
"Our commitment to Iran is not to deal with the dollar, not to comply with US sanctions," Abadi said.
Haidar al-Abadi headed a meeting of the National Security Council on Sunday, during which they stressed the depth of relations between Iraq and Iran, the great interests that bind them and the importance of preserving them.
The council rejected the "misinterpretations and politicized statements of Iraq's official position condemning the policy of starving peoples, which was expressed by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi," according to a statement by the Abbadi office.
The council stressed "the importance of maintaining privileged relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran."
