- US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday thanked the Saudi monarch for Saudi Arabia's commitment to conduct a "transparent and profound" investigation into the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi .
"Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz received today at his office at Al-Yamamah palace in Riyadh, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo," the official SPA news agency said, adding that the king "thanked King Salman for a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul ".
"During the meeting, they reviewed the historical relations between the two friendly countries, discussed the current situation in the region and the joint efforts exerted towards them," the agency said.
