French President Emmanuel Macaron said on Friday that "the call to stop selling arms" to Saudi Arabia over the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi is "purely demagogic."
"The sale of arms has nothing to do with Khashoggi's case," he said.
Between 2008 and 2017, Saudi Arabia was the second largest buyer of arms in France after India, with the kingdom signing contracts for French arms worth 12 billion euros ($ 13.8 billion).
