The US embassy in Baghdad on Thursday published pictures of the training of Iraqi F16 aircraft by the International Alliance for Air Refueling over the Syrian border.
A statement issued by the embassy said an F-16 aircraft of the Iraqi Air Force was flying over the Iraqi-Syrian border as well as a coalition aircraft.
The statement said the United States and coalition forces are partners with Iraq, which are helping to develop critical air combat skills.
The statement continued as part of a joint exercise between the Iraqi Air Force and the International Coalition forces to refuel by air.
The Ministry of Defense announced on 6/4/2019 the arrival of six aircraft (F16) to the base of Balad air, within the contract between Iraq and the United States of America.
In 2011, Baghdad signed two advanced F-16 fighter jets, including the purchase of 36 aircraft to increase the efficiency of the air force.
