Basra Council votes on the law of domestic imports to impose the collection of 1%

The Basra Provincial Council voted on Tuesday on the local import law to impose a 1% fee on new services in the province.
"Article 44 of the Provincial Councils Law authorized local governments to maximize local imports and to act by governors after approval by the councils without reference to the central government," the governor's assistant, Mo'in al-Hassan, told Al-Mawloma.
He added that "the Basra Council voted today, the draft law to maximize domestic imports," noting that "imports will be answered by 1% of the new services that will enter the new projects in Basra."
He explained that "the funds of the collection will be allocated within projects and needs that are not enough to complete the budget, including drugs and treatment of cancer patients."
