A statement by the Security Media Cell, which Al-Furat News Agency received a copy of, stated that Al-Kazemi "directed an urgent investigation, headed by the Joint Operations Command and the membership of officers from the Ministries of Defense and Interior, to investigate the circumstances of the events that accompanied the demonstrations of the twenty-fifth of this May, and to identify the negligent and hold them accountable." .
A protester was killed by security forces' bullets and at least 13 others were wounded this afternoon, Tuesday, as a result of tear gas, as security and medical sources reported, following clashes that interrupted a demonstration in Tahrir Square in Baghdad demanding accountability for those responsible for the killers of activists.
Following the events, the United Nations Mission in Iraq declared that "accountability is the key to the stability of Iraq."
Thousands participated in the demonstration, which included people from southern cities such as Nasiriyah and Karbala, who raised pictures of activists who were assassinated, among them Ihab al-Wazni, who was assassinated in Karbala early this month, accompanied by the phrase "
The demonstrators gathered in Al-Firdous Square, while others gathered in Al-Nisour Square before setting off for Tahrir Square, the protest center in Baghdad, which witnessed tight security measures and the spread of hundreds of anti-people’s elements and maintaining order.
