Samir Hawrami, the official spokesman for the Deputy Prime Minister in the Kurdistan Region, Qubad Barzani, revealed, on Tuesday, the details of the meeting of the Kurdish delegation with the federal government in Baghdad.
Hawrami said in a press statement that "a high-level delegation headed by Qubad Barzani, arrived in Baghdad two days ago to hold meetings with the Iraqi side and the Iraqi government in general."
And that "the regional government and the local government confirmed in the delegation's meeting with the Ministry of Finance yesterday, their willingness to cooperate among them in implementing the articles and provisions of the budget law with regard to the Kurdistan region."
He added, "The meeting with the Ministry of Finance yesterday, in which it was emphasized that three reports had been submitted from the Ministry of Oil and Natural Resources and the Sumo Company, and the debts owed by the region and obligations towards the TBI Bank ."
He pointed out, "The delegation met today with the Office of Financial Supervision in the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Region and signed a joint work memorandum together to audit the figures and accounts for the imports and expenditures of the Kurdistan Region, to submit a report to the Ministry of Finance in this regard to facilitate the implementation of budget articles."
Hawrami stressed that "the delegation's visit comes to develop a mechanism for implementing the budget law," noting that "the delegation is still in Baghdad and we have other meetings."
With regard to the region’s salaries, Hawrami stated, “Securing the salaries of employees in the Kurdistan region is difficult in light of the challenges in the budget, and this is the matter of the federal government, and we are waiting for the appeal to be answered.”
