{Political: Al Furat News} The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, received today, Tuesday, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the credentials of the new Italian ambassador to Iraq, Maurizio Cricante.
The President of the Republic, according to a presidential statement received by Al-Furat News Agency, a copy of it, affirmed that "the Iraqi-Italian relations are close and important, and they must be strengthened in various fields, and work together to confront various challenges, especially combating terrorism and extremist ideology, and enhancing economic and cultural cooperation and environmental work, praising the role of Italy supporting Iraq.
Saleh said, "There is an urgent need to ease regional tensions and support the dialogue process in resolving existing differences that will positively affect regional security and stability, stressing the importance of Iraq's pivotal role in the region, and the need to ensure its security, stability and sovereignty."
