And the ministry's spokesman, Hamid Al-Nayef, told the Iraqi News Agency "INA", that there is coordination with the Saudi Rafif Company to invest in the field of sprinklers, noting that "negotiations are still continuing with it, to establish a water sprinkler plant in Baghdad."
He added, that the issue of sprinklers is very big, as we invited the relevant ministries to establish a laboratory for the manufacture of water sprinklers, indicating that the sprinklers are part of the rationing process followed by the Ministry of Agriculture in maintaining water levels.
He pointed out that the ministry has a contract with the Ministry of Industry to supply urea fertilizer, which is not sufficient for the agricultural plan, and that there is a delay in the work of the Ministry of Industry regarding fertilizers, and it did not meet the delivery dates.
And he indicated that when the fertilizers are received, they will be distributed directly to farmers and farmers. As for the urea fertilizer, we wait for the vegetative season to be spread, and it will be with the beginning of the planting season, that is, a month from now.
He continued, "We need urea in the central and southern regions after the first irrigation process, and we need dab fertilizer in the northern regions," stressing that "the farmers' suffering has increased, due to the lifting of government support for fertilizers, as fertilizers were subsidized by the state by 50 percent, but now The subsidy was lifted, and the price of the dab reached one million and 600 thousand, after it was 500 thousand.
He pointed out that importing fertilizers, especially dab fertilizer, has been difficult so far, and there is no legal outlet for it, and that there are attempts to obtain legal approvals to import dab fertilizer and provide it in the markets.
He continued, "The ministry proposed to water resources to expand the winter agricultural plan, but the latter informed us that the rains that fell on Iraq were few, and they are stored in Lake Tharthar."
He pointed out that there are therefore no additional areas for the winter plan, and this will negatively affect the food security of the citizen in terms of strategic crops, especially the wheat crop.
He stated that the ministry has placed all the lands in the hands of the National Investment Commission, which is setting the investment plans for it, and investment is still very slow.
