Integrity brings in a former minister due to irregularities in the implementation of a project
Shafaq News/ The Federal Integrity Commission revealed, on Thursday, the issuance of a summons order for the former Minister of Water Resources and three other employees in the Ministry's office, noting that the order came against the background of violations in the implementation of the "Babylon Stream Lining" project.
The authority said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that the Hilla Investigation Court issued a decision to bring in the former Minister of Water Resources, based on the provisions of Article (340) of the Penal Code, indicating that the decision, which included three other employees of the Ministry's office, was issued as a result of the violations committed in Implementation of the "Babylon Creek Lining" project with a length of (8700) meters.
She added that "the violations mentioned in the case were the failure to complete the project in full, as 3600 meters out of (8700) meters were lined, and poor implementation, which led to a rise in the level of the stream to one and a half meters, which led to the lack of water flowing inside. The stream, in addition to the flooding of the area that did not complete its lining work, depriving it of water and damaging agricultural crops.”
Article (340) of the Penal Code states: “Any public official or agent who intentionally causes damage to the funds or interests of the entity in which he works or is connected by virtue of his position or the funds of the persons entrusted to him shall be punished with imprisonment for a period not exceeding seven years or imprisonment.” .
