    The Executive Director of the National Oil Company, Hamed Al-Zobai, told the official newspaper and followed by "Nass" (February 21, 2022), that "deep discussions are currently taking place between the (Halliburton) Company for Energy Services and the National Oil Company to develop a gas field (crutch), expecting" to reach results. final soon."   
      
    He explained that "the ministry had previously communicated with regional and international companies before negotiating with the (Halliburton) company for the purpose of reaching an agreement that would achieve the planned objectives of developing the (crutch) field after it was referred as part of the third licensing round in 2010 to the Korean (Kokaz) company, which did not She was able to complete her work due to the events of ISIS terrorist gangs, and she withdrew after that."  
      
    Al-Zobaie announced that "Iraq's production of associated gas will reach 2 billion and 700 million feet by the year 2025, which represents 80 percent of the country's natural gas needs."  
      
    And he indicated that "the production is currently around one billion and 500 million standard cubic feet per day of associated gas, while its production from the free gas fields (the only Siba field in the country) is about 50 million cubic feet that go directly to electric power production stations."    
      
    Al-Zobaie pointed out that "the initial contract for the development of the Mansouriya gas field in Diyala Governorate was sent to the Council of Ministers for approval after it was signed between the National Oil Company and the Chinese company (SINOP), and it will provide at least (100) million standard cubic feet of dry gas per day. ".  
      
    Earlier, the Ministry of Oil announced the completion of 51% of the gas investment project associated with oil operations in the Halfaya field in Maysan Governorate.  
      
    The Director-General of the Maysan Oil Company, Ali Jassim, said, according to a statement issued by the ministry, that “Nass” received a copy of it, (February 19, 2022), that “this achievement comes within the framework of the efforts and plans of the Ministry of Oil and the Iraqi National Oil Company, through its executive arm, the Maysan Oil Company to invest associated gas. converting it into useful energy.    
      
    Jassim indicated that "the company continues its efforts to develop this sector by implementing vital projects of economic feasibility that are reflected in the lives of citizens in the first place through supporting the electricity sector and implementing a gas treatment project in the Halfaya field with a capacity of (300) million standard cubic feet," noting that "The project is being implemented by the Chinese company Petrogina and the main contractor for the field, the Chinese company CPECC, as well as a group of secondary companies, under the supervision and follow-up of a specialized technical committee in the Maysan Oil Company."    
      
    And he indicated, "The project implementation period is 30 months for the construction of facilities, and another 30 months for operation and maintenance, and the actual completion rates amounted to 51% until February 14, 2022, when the project is scheduled to be completed and trial operation begins in the middle of 2023."    
      
    On the importance of the project, the Assistant Director-General for Production Affairs, Ahmed Rahim Ahmed, said: “The joint efforts aim to treat all quantities of associated gas produced in the Halfaya field with a capacity of 300 mqmqs, and to use it to equip electric power plants with dry gas in addition to the production of liquid gas, cooking gas and sulfur, as well as About the production of C5 + oil condensate, which will be injected with the exported oil to improve the required specifications, in addition to being used in other industries.    
      
    He added, "The project, which will stop the burning of gas in the field in order to preserve the environment, can be expanded, as it will also treat raw gas from the fields of the national effort, Al-Amarah, Nour, and the surplus from the Maysan fields."
