The Ministry of Electricity has made new promises to improve processing hours during the summer, pointing out that it has taken extensive measures to achieve this.
Ministry spokesman Ahmed Moussa said, "The Ministry of Electricity has been preparing intensively since the end of last year to receive the summer season and peak loads."
Moussa added, "The data indicate that the coming summer will be dry and very hot, and therefore the ministerial efforts came in an intense manner."
He pointed out, "the readiness to introduce new generation capacities from 3.5 thousand to 4.5 megawatts into the national system, and strategic transmission lines between governorates that were previously out of order and did not witness over the past period the provision of a financial allocation to rehabilitate them."
Moussa pointed out that "the lines included areas between Rumaila and Nasiriyah, between western Baghdad and Haditha, and between Baquba and southern Diyala, in addition to dozens of lines and transformer and secondary stations."
Moussa spoke about the "great efforts made by the ministry on the transport sector, relieving bottlenecks, supporting the distribution sector, changing the capacities of transformers, creating feeders, installing mobile and fixed transformers in some load centers, and delivering electricity in rural and peripheral areas."
And he stated, "Proceeding with the procedures that we started in part requires financial liquidity in favor of the Ministry of Electricity in order to implement its projects."
Moussa added, "The failure to pass the federal budget law for the current year, and our reliance on the allocations of the previous year, prevents us from implementing our projects."
