    The head of the Iranian-Iraqi Joint Chamber of Commerce, Yahya Al Ishaq, announced today, Saturday, that the volume of Iran’s debts to Iraq in the energy sector amounts to one billion dollars, while noting that the Iranian private sector requests Iraq about 9 billion dollars, in return, the Secretary-General of the Chamber describes that “the debt It is continuous and does not have a specific number.
    The Iranian news agency "IRNA" quoted Al-Ishaq as saying that "the normal procedures for paying Iran's financial dues, based on the agreements reached by the two countries, will begin in the coming days."
    He added, "The visit of the Iraqi Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim, to Tehran, during which they discussed the payment of the Iraqi debts owed to the Iranian ministries of energy and oil," adding, "The ongoing transactions between the two countries are conducted through the private and public sectors."
    And he explained, "The commercial exchanges of the public sector are taking place in the field of energy, and the sector is asking Iraq for sums of money worth one billion dollars, and Baghdad will pay it based on the agreements reached by the two countries and within the framework of the Central Bank's strategy."
    He continued, "The Iranian private sector demands from Iraq sums of money worth 9 billion dollars, and there is no problem with the payment system, and they are received in different ways."
    He pointed out that "agreements were reached regarding the continuation of importing Iranian energy to continue trade between the two countries in this field, following the visit of the Iraqi Minister of Electricity to Iran."
     
    Regarding the volume of Iraq’s debts to Iran, the Secretary-General of the Iranian-Iraqi Joint Chamber of Commerce, Jahanbakhsh Sanjabi, said that “given that the export process does not stop at a point, the debt continues and does not have a specific number. As a result, some of these multi-billion dollar claims have been paid off and some have been used, and we hope that the rest of the debt will be paid off as quickly as possible.
     
    "Last year, we had $8 billion and $966 million in non-oil exports to Iraq, and it should be noted that the bulk of electricity and gas exports were by the government," he said.
